How triage works
- Someone who arrives after you may be treated first if more urgent
- A stable-looking patient may have results reveal something serious — moved ahead of you
- Less urgent cases may be treated in a separate “Minor Care” area
Not Line-Skipping — Severity-Based
| TEST | EST. TIME |
|---|---|
| Blood tests | 90 min |
| COVID / viral tests | 90 min |
| Urine tests | 90 min |
| X-ray | 90 min |
| CT scan | 2 hrs |
| Ultrasound | 2 hrs |
Wait times may run longer during busy periods or mass-casualty events — we’ll keep you updated. Bring a phone, book, or something to pass the time. If you have questions, start with your nurse, or ask for the charge nurse, department manager, house supervisor, or our service excellence team.
If you’re admitted —
You’re in good hands
Specialized care, close by
Discharge & follow-up
Discharge means we’ve ruled out a life-threatening emergency. Next step: follow-up care.
- Schedule a follow-up with your primary care doctor or specialist — as soon as possible
- Review your ED results and discharge instructions with that provider
- Raise any new symptoms or questions since your visit
- Ask about further non-emergency testing, if needed
No surprises — here’s how billing works.
Understanding your bill
The facility fee includes expenses incurred by the hospital in order to keep the emergency department open and available to provide your medical care. This may include nursing care, in-house testing and expenses to keep the hospital running including environmental services, support staff, nutrition etc.
If you have any questions regarding your facility fee from Olympia Fields Hospital for your visit, you may find more information through the Prime Health Olympia Fields Hospital dedicated billing website.
2. From the clinician who provided your care, it’s called a professional fee.
The physicians and advanced providers are not employees of Olympia Fields Hospital. Our professional fee includes charges for the services provided by your Vituity physician or advanced provider alone. We do not charge for services provided by the hospital including nursing care, radiology, lab etc.
If you have any questions regarding your Vituity Professional Fee please visit our dedicated Vituity dedicated billing website.
