Cardiology

Hematology and Oncology

Here, fellows learn in an environment that fosters curiosity, professionalism, and respect- guided by our Franciscan values of service and holistic healing.

Radiology

The program focuses on advanced radiology education, hands-on clinical training, resident wellness, and exposure to state-of-the-art imaging technologies including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and interventional radiology. We offer comprehensive training through diverse subspecialty rotations, strong faculty mentorship, etc.

Emergency Medicine

This is a three-year ACGME accredited program started in 2021. It follows the previous historic AOA-approved MWU/CCOM program that was established in 1981 and stopped accepting new residents after 2018 with the merger of AOA and ACGME. There have been >500 residents from the program, and the historic AOA program graduated its last trainees in 2022.

General Surgery

Our mission is to train skilled surgeons through a comprehensive, ACGME-accredited program that emphasizes diverse surgical experience and clinical excellence. Building on over 50 years of tradition, we are committed to preparing our residents for successful careers in both private practice and fellowship training, fostering expertise, professionalism, and lifelong learning.

Internal Medicine

Our program promotes intellectual, emotional and physical growth with the support of our peers and mentors. We recognize the importance of lifelong learning and strive to respond to the healthcare needs and disparities of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. In addition to our comprehensive residency program, we are fortunate to have three in-house fellowship programs.

Orthopaedic Surgery

This Program is a five-year, ACGME-accredited program designed to provide comprehensive clinical and operative training across a diverse network of academic and community hospitals throughout Chicagoland.

Residents are exposed to a broad spectrum of orthopaedic pathology, with progressive responsibility and increasing autonomy aligned with level of training.

Urology

This ACGME-accredited program was established in 1978. We offer a five-year comprehensive training program for one resident per year whose training will be based at Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields and several strong affiliate rotation sites in the Chicagoland area. Our program offers comprehensive training in all Urologic subspecialties with a strong emphasis on endourology, complex urologic oncology and reconstructive urology.

Critical Care

The mission of the critical care medicine fellowship program at Franciscan health is to enable our trainees to transform into independently functioning Critical Care Physicians who provide compassionate and exceptional care to the most critically ill patients. This must be accomplished while providing a safe environment for the care of patients and their families in a supervised setting. During the course, our fellows will become physicians, educators and scholars

Gastroenterology

This is a three-year fully accredited ACGME training program with a total of six fellows. The gastroenterology fellows gain comprehensive experience managing a diverse population of inpatients and outpatients with full spectrum of gastrointestinal/endoluminal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic diseases. Additionally, didactic sessions and clinical research opportunities are incorporated into the curriculum.

Rheumatology

The mission of the Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program is to develop empathetic, compassionate physicians that are clinically competent in the diagnosis and management of patients with rheumatic diseases and related conditions. Assure they have acquired skills and knowledge to succeed and possess habits of life-long learning to build upon their knowledge, skills, and professionalism.
